RIDE RULES
Prescott Saddle Club Ride Rules
Rider Requirements and Guests
•
Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
•
Non-members are welcome but must sign a liability release.
•
After two guest rides, riders must become PSC members to continue participating in
club rides.
Before the Ride
•
Call the trail leader minimum of two days before a ride to make a reservation.
•
Reservations help the trail leader plan for parking and snacks.
•
Verify the ride time and meeting place.
Trail Conduct and Safety
•
Never pass the trail leader without permission.
•
Do not trot, gait, or canter your horse unless the ride has been designated as a faster-
paced ride.
•
Do not pass another horse on the trail without permission, and only pass when it is
safe.
•
Maintain your position at least one horse-length behind the horse in front of you.
•
Do not lag behind and lope to catch up.
•
On very steep climbs or descents, wait until there is clear distance ahead for safety.
•
If you need to stop on the trail, tell the trail boss so the whole group can wait.
Horse, Dog and Equipment Restrictions
•
Stallions are not allowed on rides.
•
Ponied horses are not allowed on trails.
•
Dogs are not allowed on trails. Dogs may be in camp if they are kept on a leash.
•
Horses that kick or threaten to kick should have a red ribbon on their tail.
Prohibited Items and Trail Stewardship
•
Alcohol is not allowed on the trail.
•
Smoking is not allowed on the trail.
•
Firearms may not be carried unless carried by law-enforcement personnel or
authorized by the trail boss.
•
Do not litter on the trails. Pack it in, pack it out.
Compliance and Consequences
•
If your horse’s behavior is unruly, you may be asked to bring a different horse for
future rides.
•
Cordial behavior is expected at all times. Any PSC member or guest who engages in
aggressive or bullying behavior may be dismissed from the ride by the ride leader.
•
Non-compliance with these rules may result in an official letter from the Board of
Directors.
•
Failure to comply with the directives in that letter may result in suspension of club
membership.
